He left! Hui with taeir boy at home as now we will
describe,

Alas, It was the last sight that he saw of her alive.

Early the next morning, the truth I will unfold,

The neighbours were alarmed when the servant boy
he told—

‘much in dread,

And feared. the widow. ies was murlered in
her bed. :

The peopl ran thro fear, and the Priest and doctor
came,
They used their skill to make her speak but now it
. Was in vain.
Her boxes were forced opeu, and their contents
strewn about,

doubt

The’ police carefully searched the house, and the old
hatchet found,

Which proved to be ta instrament which caused
each deadiy wound, |

With blood and hair it was besmeared, & its victim
suffered sore,

With mangfed head fying an her bad, all ng | in
her gore.

The servant boy was taken on suspicion of the deed,
By the Coroner's jury on the inquest he was freed,

‘Lnere was no coming evidence on which fhey could
rv

To send this man for trial in the next mouth of July

The Lord was looking ou the crime committed on
that night,

aud he may in his wisdom briug this savage deed
to light,

tian pray,
Amongst the bfessed, may she find rest upon the
judgment day.
