Ng Ri G. . The news from Hungary in the past month cover a great variety of subjects. On the movement of Soviet Agents, we have reported more then onees Especially last year, in a report from Cairo, we drew attention to the fact, that the Hungarian Legation in Egypt, was, together with the Polish Legation, a center for the most dungerous Agents. The report created great emotion in Budapest, and brought finally some action on the part of the Egyptians, insofar as they indicated to the Budapest governement, that the most dangerous Agents be removed. A conference which was undertaken between Hunga~ rien Intelligence, the AVH and Russian euthorities came to the res sult that in view of this evolution the Hungarian Legation in Cairo should cease to be a center of activity and that the best Agents should be re=assigned, Consequently the Agent Latzkovich was remo ved from Cairo, and without retuming to Budapest was re=assigned to the Hungarian Consulate-—General in Isteambul, where he is at the present moment. As to the Agent Kalios, who was in Cairo under the cover of being the commercial attaché, he was removed to New Delhi. He stayed there only a short while, then was recalled ti Budapest for a further re-assignement, The in though so far he has not yet been officially nominated, The reason seems to be that Kallos is better suited for Mohammedan countries, and should, hence, be used in such areas. Especially Kalios is one of the most dangerous agents of the Communist Hungarian network. In this connection it is interesting to note, that the regime is trying very hard to increase its commercial relations with all the countries of the Middle and Far East. One of the latest trade agreements of this kind, the one with Pakistan, is interesting in that communist Hungary agrees to the export of goods towards Pakisten, on which there is acute shortage in the country itself. This is especually true of Penicillin and Streptomi which Hun= gary now furnishes to Pakistan, while in the country itself these medical supplies are completely unavailable even in cases of emer= gency in hoépitals. 58 In the economic field, a report on the oil production of the country shows a rapid increase of the output, but this is done according to experts only as the result of the most uneconomical system destructive exploitation, which will in the none to far distent future entirely ruin the oil industry of Ihmgary. 011 in Tune oe.
